  • The zoo for a first date?

Hi. tomorrow I have a date with someone I don't know very well yet and I was doubting whether we should go to the zoo, because I don't know what she likes yet and more could go wrong. What is your advice?

The best first date is a coffee date, where it only lasts for 45 mins and it doesn't cost a lot of money. You can both have a feel for each other whether you are interested or not, and get to know one another on simpler terms. Totally chill, and have a nice chat.

Don't be a "pleaser". Pleasers are not attractive, they can't make their own decisions, don't stand up for themselves, and it is all just a bunch of hand-wringing. Leaders are attractive,...they know what they want, they make the plan, and they get it done. The date is supposed to be what you want to do and what you want to plan,...and that you are inviting her to join you. If she doesn't like zoos she will say so and may give you a counter offer, but I seriously doubt that will happen,...chicks are into furry animals.

Large metropolitan cities are the land of opportunities for dating. There are so many fun things to do on a date, how will you choose? Here are some a list of 10 fun ideas for a first date that can make things exciting and help break the ice:

        1. Find a bridge and take a long walk across it; the view sets up the conversation so even if you are nervous you will have things to talk about. I also suggest walking around parks. It's beautiful, has benches to sit on, and the view goes a long way to great conversation.

        2. Check out your favorite museum. If you want to stimulate your mind and save your date some dollars, suggest a Museum. You can impress him with your knowledge of the exhibits while taking in some culture.

        3. Go to a Karaoke bar. This date idea can be a great way to let your guard down and test your date. If he isn't embarrassed by singing in public and likes to make a fool of himself, then he sounds perfect! If he can't relax and enjoy himself while singing, then you know he doesn't deserve a second date.

        4. Explore a beer garden. Even though beer is very filling and high in calories, this can open up the conversation for some great questions. Men usually know a lot about beer, and he if he doesn't, then you can learn together! They say that couples who learn together, stay together.

        5. If beer isn't your cup of tea, try a wine tasting. Many local wine stores have free wine tastings. If the tasting goes well, you can always buy a bottle of wine and head to a BYOB restaurant.

        6. Go for brunch and a matinee. Trendy restaurants are much easier to get into during the day, and way more affordable.

        7. Suggest a dinner cruise around the river. Summer is coming and who doesn't love being outside? There are Yacht cruises that have some great options and being on a beautiful boat is very romantic.

        8. Get dressed like a cute snow bunny and strap on some skates for some icy fun. Ice Skating can be a way to see his exercise skills, while allowing for some appropriate touching.

        9. If you are looking for an active date, get out there and dance! Try square dancing, ballroom dancing, or the tango. This might be a little forward of a suggestion for a first date, but it is worth the risk.

        10. If these ideas are too "out there" for you, there is always the standard drinks or dinner date.

Bring her to a nice, ideally quirky, cafe with decent coffee and snacks and talk to her.
