I’m so tired of using Skype and Messenger to communicate with my long distance girlfriend. Skype keeps crashing and Messenger is annoying for me. Can someone suggest a good messaging tool aside from those two? It’s hard not to use online apps when trying to keep a long distance relationship together. A reliable method of communication aside from texts and phone calls will really mean a lot to me and my girlfriend. I really need all the suggestions that I can get. Preferably, it should have a call and video call feature and should not consume too much data. Thanks!

Whatsapp is the best messaging tool.
Easy setup, automatic syncing with your phone's contacts and a feature-rich, ad-free experience all combine to make WhatsApp (Android, IOS) a wildly popular mobile messaging app.
Users can send text, photos, voice and short video messages to their WhatsApp contacts.
Best part, it's free for lifetime.

I like Discord (You could even make yourself a server with sub-chatrooms in it just for you two. You can have little rooms for 'things that remind me of you' or sweet stuff like that). It has video/voice chat, screen-sharing, and makes playing games together easier! Plus you can search your whole chat history multiple ways so it makes remembering stuff so much easier.
A lot of people like LINE. It's reliable and basically replaces your text/call. You can add custom backgrounds to the chats which I like and it has stickers which are lots of fun.
