  • Dating cousins

My husband of 12 years goes on lunch dates with his female cousin. It makes me sad and insecure but he says he will not stop. I would feel more comfortable if they just talked on the phone. I feel like I should be the only girl he goes on dates with. Am I wrong for feeling this way?

We need more context. Like are they first cousins, second cousins, etc.? Also, is he paying for her meals like he would for a “date”? If so, that’s a place to start asking questions. Many cousins are close, almost like siblings and my female first cousin and I are friends in the sense of enjoying time together when we can. But she lives in another state so I hardly ever get to see her. I miss her. If she lived here, however, I doubt we would go on regular lunch dates or something like that. It would be more like a once in a while thing. And we certainly don’t have any interest in having sex with each other. That’s just gross and we don’t see each other from that point of view. And she’s even adopted so we’re not even related either.
Your husband may have an unhealthy relationship with his cousin. There might be something taboo going on there and you should investigate it more. People do things.
I hope you’ll be ok. Sorry that you’re going through this.

You shouldn't feel bad about your husband going on dates with his cousin. I'm very sure nothing is happening between them, his cousin is just a family member and so he's only trying to be nice.
